WE’RE BACK! French For Cartridge are out of hibernation - at least temporarily.

When Joyzine asked us to contribute something to one of their 20th Anniversary compilation albums we couldn’t say no.

“Joyjoyjoyjoy” with its found-lyrics about maps is our tribute to Joyzine and more specifically Paul Maps - the man behind it all - who is not just a tireless supporter of new independent music, but also one of the nicest people in show business.

Copies in the form of a beautifully designed birthday card + download can be purchased from Bandcamp. If you buy both volumes, you’ll get tracks from the likes of Deerhoof TEKE TEKE A Place To Bury Strangers as well as us.

All proceeds go to HOPE not hate.

Coucou

Coucou. Anybody there? It’s been a long time.

A few things:

1. We were recently featured in the Belgian criminal TV-series Pandore. Apparently the most successful Belgian show of its kind for quite a while, so if francophone Noir is your thing tune in to it and specifically Episode 2 where “A Hundred And One” from our debut album makes a big appearance right at the start.

2. Golden Hour Listening Parties. Remember those? You listen to our most recent album “The Golden Hour” whilst the sun sets or arises. We did more than 25 of these all over the world around the release of the album and now you have a chance to do one again in Esch, Luxembourg tomorrow night - or wherever you are over the internet although it may not be golden hour in your part of the world at that time.

Catherine is curating a 22-hour radio show on Radio Art Zone together with S.L. Grange and Claire Thill in the context of their new soundwalks which recently launched as part of Esch2022 European Capital of Culture.

On air from Tuesday 30th August 14.00 CEST to Wednesday 31st August 12.00 CEST with the French For Cartridge Golden Hour Listening Party happening on the Tuesday from 19.40 CEST. Listen on the live stream on Radio Art Zone or on FM relayed around the world on the following frequencies:

Radio Art Zone, Esch/Alzette and surroundings 87.8 MHz

Resonance Extra, London / Brighton / Bristol / Cambridge / Norwich DAB+
Soundart Radio, Totnes 102.5 MHz

3. New music? Ah, yes. You would like some. It’s on its way. Slowly. At some point. Maybe. Definitely.

THE GOLDEN HOUR STREAMING IN FULL

Roses

Having previously only been available as a physical pre-order or by attending our Golden Hour Listening Parties, we’re releasing our latest album “The Golden Hour” to all streaming platforms later this month.

To celebrate, here’s the opening track “Roses” featuring the amazing CHROMA. It’s a song about a devious gardener who obsesses about her crops and poisons whilst high on pills - worth a listen!

GOLDEN HOUR LISTENING PARTIES

If you caught our previous post, you will know that we are releasing “The Golden Hour” to all usual digital platforms on May 25th.

Up until now, you could only hear the album if you pre-ordered a physical copy or by attending one of our Golden Hour Listening Parties. These have been great fun and it would be a shame to stop these, so as the weather gets nicer, we will organise one listening party a month in various places around the globe, starting with Tokyo on April 8th.
